Fetch Your News CEO accused of voter fraud; IRS probe underway

Brian Keith Pritchard, owner and CEO of Fetch Your News (FYN), was listed among 35 individuals accused of voter fraud by the Georgia State Election Board in February.

Fannin County’s News Observer broke the story, followed by publication in the Cherokee Scout and Clay County Progress in N.C.

According to information obtained by News Observer through Georgia’s Secretary of State office, Pritchard registered to vote in Gilmer County, GA, casting 14 ballots over a six-year span while serving probation as a convicted felon for two counts of Forgery in Writing and one count of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Funds.

Pritchard was ordered to pay over $33,000 in restitution and court fees, a result of the charges.

The charges surfaced in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, prior to Pritchard’s relocation to North Georgia and the founding of Fetch Your News in 2008.

Pritchard, who focuses on political commentary via FYNTV, was selected as a moderator by several counties during election seasons, including a Tri-County Congressional Debate in April 2020.

Pritchard moderating a debate last year.

In a separate matter, Pritchard is currently facing scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for worker misclassification.

Depending on its findings, the IRS can target employers found guilty of wrongdoing with penalties ranging from fines to incarceration.

Robin Webb, an investigative reporter who served Towns County from 2017 – 2020, brought the issue to the attention of the federal agency last year.

“I was working 80-90 hour weeks at Fetch Your News for what often amounted to part-time pay,” Webb said. “Because I was classified as an independent contractor, I was not entitled to overtime or benefits, and taxes were never withheld. I demanded proper classification and fair pay on numerous occasions to no avail. I was prohibited from seeking supplemental income while working for FYN. That’s one example of a typical employer/employee arrangement, not self-employment. To add insult to injury, my final paycheck was never issued, and my name was removed from the byline of every article I had written.”

Webb added that she resigned in April of last year after Pritchard instructed the reporter to withhold information from the public concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, describing the incident as the final straw.

Webb stated that she was unaware of Pritchard’s criminal background and voting history while affiliated with FYN.

“I wish I could say that I’m shocked, but from an insider’s perspective, I’m unfortunately not surprised,” the former journalist said.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger initially announced the voter fraud allegations in a statement.

“Election fraud is not tolerated in Georgia. When there is evidence of it, the people responsible face prosecution,” Raffensperger said. “Georgia has multiple safeguards in place that allow our team of investigators to discover fraudulent voting. They worked to catch the wrongdoing in these cases and they maintain the security of Georgia elections.”

Developments on the voter fraud and IRS cases are expected in coming weeks.

UPDATED: The Internal Revenue Service has since ruled in Webb’s favor, determining that the former reporter was an employee, not an independent contractor, as claimed by Fetch Your News.
